I used to play DnD back in the day, havent checked out 4th edition but i did get into 3rd..  and the nice thing there is every race is diffrent, get bonus to diffrent skills and such.. and where stats mean somthing and cap out, a gnome will never (exept for items and other things help) be strong, i forget what there cap is but they also start off with -2 str which can be huge in DnD.. anyways to totaly diffrent systems

yea, a gnome could be a fighter but it would never be as strong as a orc warrior.  But in our little world a orc can be just as good as a gnome in any class, maybe a few hit points or mana difference but all the same really.

What would be nice is greater difference in the races, maybe even within the race itself.  Orc warriors are all really afraid of orc magic users or really hate them ‘you too smart for orc’

What’s great about 4th Edition is that no races get a stat penalty, but get bonuses to different stats and racial abilities. Yes, there were penalties in the past for stats, but that still didn’t mean they took more damage than a different race. You could say that the str bonus/penalty for certain races were transferred here in the form of different stat costs.

Oddly enough, I made a dwarven wizard in 4th Edition because of how second wind works. Lots of cool new stuff to work with too. Blood-mage paragon path is pretty awesome =)

in 3rd I made a halfling wizard becuase of the extra ac and all the bonuses to hide, listen and such.. he was a wicked fucker

Aha...there’s the catch I sadly have no friends who play DND...otherwise I know I’d be playing too....and I know the wife wouldn’t go for it either...mutter.

Otherthan DnD, there are a couple ofrole playing gamesthat are pretty cool.  I had some fun with Vampire and Werewolves, which were the two I played about 4-5 years ago.

Before I was married, I played some MERP, DC Heroes (I think it was called that), some Mutant RPG, Star Wars and a western one.  All great time killers and a lot of fun.

Now I role play a busy father of two

BattleTech was the shit!! and we made starcontrol 2 into a table top game moving units and such but then fighting the battles on video game

I know a class break down of the top aristo list has been done, I would like to see a race break down of it though.  I will also agree with Alazar and Anon with the conclusion that halflings are garbage.
