Barbarian Skills

Redirected from: barbarian rage

Level/Skill
--------------------------------------------------------------
>(5) Rage

Syntax: rage
Mana Cost: 30
Rage gives the barbarian more attacks per turn. The strength of the rage is based on the player’s level (also affected by wisdom and int).  In addition, barbarians who rage will inspire their sentient partymates to fight harder, as well.  Fellow barbarians especially are inspired by the sight of a good, frothing rage.

>(5) Eat Corpse

Barbarians can eat animal (and only animal!) corpses for sobriety (provided of course that there is a corpse available).  The amount of sobriety depends upon the size of the animal eaten, with birds and fish usually giving small sobriety effects and chipmunks and anything larger giving full sobriety.

There have been some rumors of cannabalistic Barbarians!

>(5) Adrenal Defense

Syntax: (none - automatic)
Mana Cost: (none)
As barbarians are injured in the head and body, they recognize that they are nearing death.  Unlike others who slink away with their weapons between their legs, however, the barbarian scoffs at his wounds, getting a boost from this brush with death as their adrenalin kicks in!  The
more hurt a barbarian is, the more powerfully his adrenalin pushes him to fight harder.  As the tribal elders will tell you, pain is irrelevant, death is inevitable, but victory and honor are eternal.

>(5) Thunderbolt

Syntax: (none - automatic)
Mana Cost: (none)
Barbarians in a party can occasionally apply a brute force tactic which the horde has nicknamed the ‘thunderbolt’.  In this attack, the barbarian will pause in combat momentarily in order to grab a partymate and hurl him or her headlong at their enemy, doing horrific damage.  Only rarely
can a barbarian spot an opportunity for this attack, but when it lands it is truly devastating.  Barbarians are taught this tribal secret upon
joining the class.

>(7) Skin Corpse

Syntax: skin corpse <#>
Mana Cost: 10
Barbarians, being barbarians, know all about skinning and preserving skins...this command allows a barb to get a skin from a corpse in the room with them.  They then proceed to tan the skin so that the leather can be sold or used in leathercraft.  Barbs learn this skill at level 7.

(it is best to skin larger corpses, such as cows or bigger)

>(9) Campfire

Syntax: campfire
Mana Cost: 20
Burn baby, BURN! Makes a campfire in an outdoors location.  Tossing wooden items into a campfire will increase the flames and possibly turn it into a bonfire which is not only more powerful than a campfire but will stay in the
room if the barb leaves.  Barbs learn this skill at level 9.

(as with anything else with barbarians, using items that have more wood units (or more material units) will give a bonfire faster)

>(9) Jerk corpse

Syntax: jerk corpse <#> or <jerk corpse all>
jerk heart (at level 17)
Mana Cost: 15
Barbs, among other things, know how to make jerky. This requires an animal corpse, and a cast-iron stomach to ‘munch’ the resulting product, a campfire is also needed to smoke the meat properly. The jerky produced, unlike a corpse, will not decay, but jerky, not being as juicy, will give a smaller sobering effect than a corpse. Barbs learn this at level 9. At level 17 a barb may create jerky from the heart of an animal corpse, for better quality jerky.

(it is best to use bigger corpses with this skill, such as gryphons or cows)

>(11) Leathercraft

Syntax: (see below)
Mana Cost: 5 (combine)
40 (patch)
50 (resize)
60 (reinforce)
Barbs know a little about using tanned skins. They can do various useful things like combine skins, patch broken armor, resize armor, and reinforce armor (the armor of course being leather).

Level/Name
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(11) combine

Syntax: leathercraft combine skin # with skin #
combine adds two skins together, which then gives you a larger piece of skin to work with

(11) patch

Syntax: leathercraft patch <item> with skin #
allows you to repair any broken leather armor (including belts/masks)

(11) resize

Syntax: leathercraft resize <item> with skin # to <size>
allows you to change the size of any leather armor (including belts/masks)

(13) reinforce

Syntax: leathercraft reinforce <item> with skin #
allows you to reinforce (and thus increase the Armour class and durability of leather armor (does NOT include belts and masks)

----------------------------------------------------------

>(13) Collect Blood

Syntax: collect blood from corpse
Mana Cost: 10
Barbarians are taught at level 13 the ancient tribal ritual of collecting blood from the hearts of dead foes.  This blood can then be <smear>ed on their faces to grant them some of the power of their vanquished enemies.

(it is best to collect blood from foes that you have killed yourself, as well as smearing blood from foes that give you over 300 exp)

>(13) Smear Blood

Syntax:  smear blood
Mana cost: 30
Barbarians, having collected the blood of a dead foe, can then <smear> the blood on their faces to grant them some of the power of their vanquished enemies.

(it is best to collect blood from foes that you have killed yourself, as well as smearing blood from foes that give you over 300 exp)

>(15) Berzerk

Syntax: berzerk
Mana Cost: 9 plus 5 mana per 5 seconds in upkeep
Barbarians sometimes totally lose it during combat, causing them to totally disregard their own safety in return for totally unloading on their enemies. Warning: this skill prevents all movement(all!), including wimpy and teleportation, during the duration, so it’s a good thing you will kick major butt during it.  If you are fighting one enemy, and that enemy flees, you have a chance to automatically pursue it one room at a time.

Tips: Never zerk against an opponent if you are going to die, as well as ALWAYS checking if you have enough jerky and alcohol to last you through the zerk (and also enough to keep you alive). Finally if you are fighting a strong opponent make sure you have backup healing items (items that can be used even if your totally full or drunk) or a party member or you might not survive before the zerk ends.

>(18) Juice

Syntax: juice corpse <#>
Mana Cost: 30 plus 5 per drink in container
Barbs love their alcohol and experienced barb have even learned ways to spice it up.  All it requires is an animal corpse and a bottle of alcohol. It takes a lot of energy to wring all of the juice from the corpse, but when it mixes with the alcohol it gives it that flavor that no barb could turn down.  This skill will automatically put the juice in the first alcohol you are carrying.  Note that the alcohol will no longer respond to <alcohol>, it has been changed to <juice>.

>(19) Big Hands

Syntax:(none - automatic)
Mana Cost: (none)

A barbarian has such big and powerful hands, that they are able to grasp larger weapons with ease and wield them efficiently in one hand during battle.
Ability allows for barbarians to wield 2handers as if they were 1handed weapons. Weapon skills used would be as if the weapon was a 1hander.
(skill also prevents barbarians from wielding weapons as 2handers)

Due to the extreme weight of the highest quality 2-handed weapons, even the strongest barbarians are only able to maintain their grip on the lighter 2handed weapons for use in battle.
